What Do Parents Need To Know About Act Wild?

Have a child who is passionate about animals?
Looking after a youngster keen on helping the world?
Raising a teenager who wants to challenge the mainstream and make a difference to the environment?

Then you’ve come to the right place!

Act Wild is a website, m-site and mobile app full of stuff that kids can do to make a tangible and positive difference to the local and global environment.

These resources were produced by Zoos Victoria and Greening Australia and funded as part of the digital education content initiatives and strategies of the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development as part of the FUSE project.

Act Wild provides a range of resources for students to use in order to learn about wildlife and conservation including:
Students can access these materials at home or at school and investigate a range of different wildlife issues and explore actions to take to get involved, either through school or on their own.

So, What Does That Mean For Your Child?

The Act Wild site promotes conservation activities and gives children an authentic platform in which to get involved in their environment and community. Students can register to create an online profile and log in to use many of our materials and activities.

However as with any online community, some of the content is public and youngsters need to be aware of the risks of putting themselves out in the public eye.

We have outlined our guidelines for using the website and its materials, in order to protect the best interests of those involved. You can help us by reading these guidelines, chatting to your child and being familiar with the website and their online involvement.

We welcome any discussion or questions about Act Wild, so please feel free to let us know what you think by e-mailing actwild@zoo.org.au. Together, we can make a difference to conservation and have fun whilst doing it!
