Hi, helping Australian animals like the Platypus and the Wombat is easy. All you need to do is act wild!
Keeper Jess is quacking up!

Meet Jemima and Bill the Wood Ducklings!

Sadly Mummy and Daddy Duck were hit by a car and killed just outside Healesville Sanctuary. Luckily keeper Jess found the two little ducklings and brought them to work. They’ve now been going home with her for the past four weeks and have increased in size from a tiny 35g to over 300g!

They come to work with Keeper Jess every day and follow her everywhere, just like they would follow their real mum and dad. Even into the staff office buildings which means an occasional mess on the carpet :)

Jess has had heaps of experience caring for young platypus and has now shown her mothering skills extend to babies of the feathered kind. She is pretty busy these days too with our brand new ‘Wade with a Platypus‘ experience and preparing for an all new show ‘Tales from platypus creek’ (starting January 10, 2013). Then again no-one is better at juggling roles than a mum!
